Q. Will the winder work with any power drill?

   A. The winder will accommodate most any corded power drill with a collar.
The collar is the section designed to fit the handle that comes with the drill.

Q. Will the Foot Switch work with any drill motor?

   A. The foot switch will work with any variable speed, 6 amp, or less, 110 volt drill motor with a locking switch.

Q. Will a rechargeable drill work with the winder?

   A. No, because those drills don't have a collar for attachment, and the battery won't hold up under sustained torque for as long as is required to spool up a larger reel.

Q. Will the winder work with spectra?

   A. One of the main objectives in designing this winder was for it to pack spectra tightly onto a reel.

Q. Can the Winder be used to clean spectra?

   A. Yes, the spectra can be wound off on a hollow Swifty Spectra Washing spool, washed, rinsed, dried, wound onto a hard spool, stored or packed back onto the reel.
(The Spectra Washing Spool is an option.)

Q. How large of a reel will the winder accommodate?

   A. I've used this winder with reels up to 80 Penn and 80 Shimano. I do have a heavy- duty aluminum Pac-Bay reel seat option for the winder. The limitation is that it works on large reels only.

Q. Why doesn't the winder kit come with a drill motor?

   A. A lot of guys already have a drill they can use. Liability insurance issues won't allow me to sell it as part of the kit. I can sell it as a separate transaction. I have heard that they can be had on EBay for prices I can't print.

Q. Is there a line counter available?

   A. Yes, it's an optional add-on. It comes with a custom designed bracket which holds the counter and a rod guide so the line stays on the counter wheel. The bracket will fit right into the pre-drilled holes on the winder base. The counter is analog not digital, the line actually turns the counter wheel. These counters are hard to find.

Q. What Comes in the Winder Kit?

   A. The kit contains: drill motor bracket, bulk spool bracket, Fuji adjustable reel seat bracket and assembly, variable speed footswitch to control the drill speed hands-free, Swifty Line Stripping assembly, (8"x1/2" threaded stud, nuts and washers). Base board, (marine grade 3/4" sanded plywood),. Three sizes of chuck keys to fit various sizes of reels. The keys have a rubber-coated arm to protect the finish on the reel handles.

Q. What materials are used in the winder?

   A. The winder is made from machined 6061 aluminum and chrome plated steel.
The parts are hand cut, debured, and tumbled for a smooth industrial finish.
